Karnak Carpentry

Ras Al Khaimah Hotel Resort Fit-Out in Solid Teak and Ipe

Ras Al Khaimah is the fastest-growing hospitality destination in the UAE. With new five-star resorts opening along its coastline and mountain foothills every year, the demand for hotel-grade joinery that performs beautifully in the RAK climate has never been higher. Karnak Carpentry delivered a complete hospitality fit-out for a beachfront resort property in Ras Al Khaimah, covering the hotel lobby and reception, the pool bar, the main restaurant, and the outdoor terrace. Every joinery element was fabricated in solid teak for interior zones and solid ipe for all outdoor and exposed structures, two of the most proven and durable hardwoods available for the Gulf coastal environment. Brushed brass hardware and natural travertine floors tie the full resort together into one cohesive material story.

Solid Teak and Ipe Hotel Resort Fit-Out in Ras Al Khaimah

Karnak Carpentry completed a full hospitality joinery fit-out for a beachfront hotel resort in Ras Al Khaimah, covering four major zones across the property. The hotel lobby and reception zone was fitted with a solid teak reception desk spanning five metres, with a brass inlay border along the front fascia edge, a brushed brass counter-mounted lamp system, and a full floor-to-ceiling teak wall cladding system behind the desk using vertical teak battens of varying widths set with shadow-gap spacing on a recessed dark background.

The lobby also received a full teak feature ceiling batten system installed across the full ceiling area, creating a warm linear timber canopy that defines the check-in experience and visually connects to the outdoor resort environment beyond. The pool bar was built as a full indoor-outdoor structure in solid teak for the bar counter, bar back shelving and overhead canopy structure, with all external posts, deck boards, and bar stools frames in solid ipe.

The main restaurant received a full booth seating build in solid teak, a floor-to-ceiling teak floating shelf display wall behind the host station, a solid teak bar counter at the entrance, and individual solid teak table bases throughout the dining floor. The outdoor terrace was clad entirely in solid ipe deck boards in a straight-lay pattern, with continuous ipe perimeter bench seating built into the terrace boundary walls, ipe-clad planter boxes framing the terrace edges with lush tropical greenery, and low ipe side table frames paired with linen cushion lounge chairs throughout.

Hospitality Joinery Engineered for the RAK Coastal Environment

Delivering a hotel resort fit-out in Ras Al Khaimah places specific demands on timber selection and construction methodology that a standard commercial fit-out does not. The RAK coastal environment combines high humidity, direct UV exposure, salt air from the Arabian Gulf, and wide temperature swings between outdoor ambient and air-conditioned interior zones. Teak and ipe were specified for this project precisely because they are the two most proven hardwoods available for exactly these conditions.

Solid teak has a natural oil content that makes it dimensionally stable across humidity fluctuations, naturally resistant to salt air corrosion, and exceptionally durable under the daily contact intensity of hotel public-area use. The teak used throughout this project was sourced from certified sustainable plantations and finished with a penetrating teak oil system that feeds the timber without creating a surface film that peels or cracks in coastal heat. Ipe is one of the hardest and densest timbers available anywhere in the world. Its natural density makes it virtually impervious to moisture penetration, insect activity, and UV degradation.

All ipe elements in this RAK resort project were installed with stainless steel fixings throughout, as standard zinc-plated fixings corrode visibly within months in a coastal Gulf environment. Karnak’s commercial team has delivered hospitality fit-outs across hotel properties in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and now Ras Al Khaimah, and the technical knowledge accumulated across those projects is embedded into every material choice and construction detail in this resort. Every installed element carries Karnak’s structural and component warranty, with an annual maintenance programme available to keep all teak and ipe surfaces in their best condition as the resort continues to operate.
